Warehouse building

D. W. Marshall & Co. Ltd have been established for over 25 years as an Aluminium and Steel stockholder, within this time they have continued to expand into new services and sectors and are now at the forefront of commercial vehicle body kit design.

With an expanding business, larger premises are needed. D. W. Marshall & Co. ltd (DMW) approached Northern Structures Limited to help.  We designed, fabricated and erected a building to DWM’s specification.

The new building measures some 30.5m long x 18.3m wide x 6.1m average height to eaves, with 5 bays of 6.1m. In total circa 13 tonnes of structural steelwork has been painted with a zinc phosphate primer and used to create the new building.

After checking the ground conditions, obtaining planning and carrying out initial survey work; we dug and poured the concrete foundations needed to support the building. The stanchions have been secured using holding down bolts set in the foundations.

Following fabrication, all steel work has been painted using 1 No. coat of zinc phosphate primer in our factory in Amble.

The steel structure has been clad using Kingspan KS1000RW complete panels with a  150mm thick insulated core and polycarbinate roof lights to suite.  The sides have been similarly clad from eaves level down to 6.1m.

Plastisol coated steel gutters, with PVC down pipes have been fitted to disperse rain water.

Internally, we have installed a concrete floor. And for access; new electrically operated sectional doors and a pedestrian door have been fitted.
