Stables, Matfen, Northumberland

This is a steel portal frame stable block located in Metfen, Northumberland.

The building measures 27.45m long x   7.63m wide x 3.97m average height to eaves.  It spans over 6no. Bays each measuring 4.58m wide. There is a 1.5m cantilever to the front elevation.

The structure has been clad using Profile 6 fibre cement roof sheets with matching bargeboard flashing’s to both ends. The elevations have been clad using timber boarding. Concrete panels have been used to form a lower wall.

Internally the bays have been divided, by concrete panels, into compartments to provide space for horse stables and a concrete slab as been installed to give a firm base.

A concrete channel drain has been installed internally in front of the stabling to provided drainage to the buildings whilst mucking out.

External drainage has also been installed to carry rainwater away from the building.
