North East Grains Limited

Set in the outskirts of Morpeth, in the village of Longhirst, North East Grains limited opened in July 2010.  The development was worth some £2 million and included a new 20,000 tonne capacity grain store, complete with a new 100 tonne per hour dryer and cleaning plant. Since this time North East Grains limited have expanded, and Northern Structures are proud to be working along side to providing new facilities.

The most resent addition to the site is a 93.0m long x 32.50m wide x 8.5m height to eaves grain store.  The building is constructed using 90.47 tonnes of structural steelwork to BS5950 / BSEN 1090. The frame has then been clad. The roof has been clad with a single skin, non-insulated 0.7mm HPS200 PVC coated profiled steel sheeting with anti-condensation coating to the internal surface, and the side walls have been clad in 0.55mm HPS200 PVC coated profiled steel sheeting.  Beetween the cladding and the finished floor a perimeter wall has been built consisting of 250mm thick hollowcore wall panels; erected to a height of 7.5m.

We have also supplied and fitted 1 No. electrically operated roller shutter door.

Internally, We have manufactured and fitted  open mesh flooring to all platforms and walkways, handrails to all exposed edges and 3 No. hoop ladders to access the access platform.

The photos in this section show the build as it happened and the finished grain store.
