Highways Department- Salt Depot, Alnwick

Located to the rear of Lionheart Business Park, Alnwick; a new development of steel framed buildings has been completed to house the Highways Departments Salt Depot.

Salt Barn

Measuring 22.21m x 44.93m The Salt Barn has been constructed using just under 73 tonnes of galvanized hot rolled steel, and 13.8 tonnes of galvanize purlins.

Concrete panels have been installed to the perimeter of the building with space left for a door tot he North Elevation.

The frame has been clad in 0.7mm thick box profile steel roofing sheets, and 0.7mm thick box profile steel wall sheets. Both sides have been fitted with plastisol coated steel Streamline gutters, with 100mm down pipes.

Mini Salt Barn

Measuring 5.70m x 10m; The Mini Salt Barn has been constructed using just under 3 tonnes of galvanized hot rolled steel, and 1 tonne of galvanized purlins.

Concrete panels have been fitted to both sides and the north gable end.

The frame has been clad in 0.7mm thick box profile steel roofing sheets, and 0.7mm thick box profile steel wall sheets. Both sides have been fitted with plastisol coated steel Streamline gutters, with 100mm down pipes.

Workshop

The workshop measures 30.21m x 29m. In total 40.20m tonnes of hot rolled steel, painted with a coat of zinc phosphate primer, and 6.5 tonnes of galvanized purlins have been used to construct the frame.

A metal decking has been installed measuring 183m2 to form a 1st floor.

The frame has been clad using insulated panels. On the roof a Kingspan KS1000RW composite panel with 137mm thick insulated core has been used. The sides have been clad in a double skin built up system.  Both sides have been fitted with plastisol coated steel Streamline gutters, with 100mm down pipes.
