Farm Building Extension, Alnwick

Working on behalf of The Northumberland Estate, we are delighted to have been chosen to design, fabricate and erect the 2 bay extension shown within this Case Study.

The building measures some 12.2m long x 18.3m wide x 6.1m average to eaves height. We have tied the extension into the existing barn. The existing barn was designed, fabricated and erected by Northern Structures Limited in 1999.  Due to our extensive archive of previous developments, we were able to advise our client on the the best way to extend and we quickly designed a scheme that would work well with the existing farm building.

The steel frame has been clad using profile 6 fibre cement sheets, with sky lights, to the roof and box profile plastisol coated steel sheets to all external elevations. Preformed concrete panels have been fitted to the lower walls to provide a tough side walling.

An electrically operated sectional door has been fitted to give easy access for farm machinery, and the pedestrian door gives the farmer access and a means of escape.
