We were approached by David Henderson Tractors Ltd to provide a ‘turn key’ development for their business. Northern Structures Limited where happy to oblige.
The building is formed in two parts. The Showroom, measuring some 12.20m long x 12.20m wide, and the workshop, measuring some 24.40m long x 12.20m wide. Both parts have an average height to eaves of 6.10m. The build is of steel portal frame construction, including purlins, gable posts, wind bracing and frame openings.
The steelwork has been clad using PVC coated steel sheets, including GRP roof lights, achieving a U value of 0.16Wm2/K on the roof and 0.25Wm2/K on the elevations. To the south and east of the office accommodation and the the south elevation of the workshop, we have used cavity walling with 100mm thick insulation.
Internally, a 200mm thick concrete floor has been installed using RC35 grade concrete and reinforcing mesh. This has been laid over a 1200g damp proof membrane.
A 6.0m wide by 5.5m electrically operated sectional door has been installed to the workshop allowing access for tractors and machinery. Pedestrian doors have also been fitted allowing a means of fire escape from the building.
The entrance door way has been constructed from powder coated aluminum with double glazed windows. It measures some 2.0m wide by 2.1m high. 7no. windows of same construction have also been installed.
As part of our contract, all internal woodwork has been installed. This includes Weyroc flooring, internal doors, architraves, window sills and skirting boards. We have also installed suspended ceiling tiles to the offices.
We have installed a full hot and cold water system, including boiler with wet radiators, kitchen facilities, W/C’s and all associated drainage.
Electric lighting and power sockets has been installed throughout the building as per our clients instructions, and we have had new phone lines installed and connected.
Externally, the building has been edged with hardcore, retained by kerb stones. We have constructed a ramp leading to the sectional door out of concrete to provide easy access. The site has been covered using a tarmac finish and secured using galvanised palisade fencing, with matching gates.
